The Nunavut Teachers’ Association has announced a special event on March 18, 2026, to celebrate the work of educators in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. The campaign, titled Thank You For Making a Difference 2026, encourages residents to recognize the impact teachers have on local students and the community.

The initiative comes at a time when schools like Maani Ulujuk Ilinniarvik High School have been working to fill several teaching positions. By highlighting the efforts of current staff, the territorial association hopes to boost morale and strengthen the bond between schools and the families they serve.

Those who participate in the celebration have the chance to win prizes, including a round-trip flight and an iPad. Justin Matchett, the president of the association, leads the group which also recently welcomed Natasha Simonee as n Inuit Member Support Coordinator to provide help in both Inuktitut and English.

In addition to this event, the association is hosting an Award for Teaching Excellence on March 4, 2026. Community members interested in the program can contact Patricia MacNeil, the assistant executive director, for more details on how to get involved.
