The Town of Raymond is hosting a free Harvest Showdown community event on September 25, 2026 at Comet Stadium, featuring a free barbecue for the first 1,000 attendees, a high school football game, face painting, fireworks, and a halftime presentation honouring a local volunteer.
The event kicks off with a free BBQ and family activities including face painting, followed by the Raymond Comets taking on a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent. After the game, the evening wraps up with fireworks. At halftime, the town will announce the 2026 recipient of the Council Volunteer Appreciation Award, given to someone who has made outstanding voluntary contributions to the community. Nominees must be in by August 14, 2026, and the winner gets a $500 local shopping spree and their name added to the Council Volunteer Appreciation Award.
Comet Stadium sits within Victoria Sports Park at 350E 100N and has seating for more than 1,200 spectators. The facility features an artificial turf field and stadium lighting.
The Harvest Showdown follows on the heels of Raymond’s 125th anniversary bash in early July 2026, which included a parade and fireworks. The town, roughly 20 minutes south of Lethbridge with around 4,200 residents, has a deep sports tradition; the Comets football team has captured multiple provincial Tier 1 championships, most recently in 2022.
The Town of Raymond puts on these celebrations to bring people together during the harvest season, giving families a chance to enjoy an evening at the stadium without spending a dime. Who will be honoured by council at halftime remains a secret until the big night.
