The Co-op Refinery Complex in Regina is preparing to launch its annual maintenance project in mid-April 2026. The work is expected to last up to 54 days and focuses on inspecting, repairing, and upgrading equipment to ensure safety and reliable operations at the facility.
This yearly process, often referred to as a turnaround, requires parts of the refinery to be taken offline. During this time, other sections of the complex will remain in operation to continue meeting consumer demand for petroleum products. The refinery, which serves over 780 Co-op gas bars across Western Canada, typically processes about 130,000 barrels of fuel daily.
The project acts as a significant economic driver for the city, as it brings in hundreds of temporary workers to supplement the facility’s permanent staff of over 1,000 people. General Manager of Refinery Operations Jennifer Stiglitz currently leads the site, which has been a staple of the local economy since it first opened in 1935.
Residents living near the refinery, located at 9th Avenue North between Winnipeg and McDonald Streets, should expect higher traffic levels during the maintenance period. To help manage the flow of vehicles, the company is funding additional support from the Regina Police Service to direct traffic at the intersection of Winnipeg Street and 9th Avenue during busy times.
