The First Nations University of Canada is set to host its 47th annual Spring Celebration Pow Wow in Regina on April 18 and 19, 2026. Held at the Brandt Centre, the event serves as a major cultural gathering that attracts thousands of visitors, dancers, and drum groups from across Canada and the United States.
As the longest‑running indoor powwow in Western Canada, the celebration features traditional dance and drum competitions. The event regularly draws over 7,500 attendees and includes over 800 dancers alongside 20+ drum groups. In previous years, the singing competition has seen high‑level participation from groups such as the Blackstone Drum Group.
The event is hosted by the First Nations University of Canada, which is the only university‑college in the country controlled by First Nations. Founded in 1976, the institution operates campuses in Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert, serving more than 3,000 students annually. The university’s main Regina campus, which opened in 2003, was designed by architect Douglas Cardinal and is known for a structure meant to resemble an eagle in flight.
Admission to the two‑day event at the Brandt Centre is $15 per day, or $20 for the full weekend, plus a $3 venue fee. Children five and under are admitted free of charge. The Brandt Centre, located at 1700 Elphinstone Street, is operated by the Regina Exhibition Association Limited and has served as a central hub for community events since opening in 1977.
