Construction on a new specialized long-term care home in Regina has reached the 25 percent mark, the Government of Saskatchewan said in a June 15 update. The five-storey, 240-bed facility south of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus will serve seniors and residents with complex needs, including dementia and acquired brain injuries. It is a tangible step in a provincewide push to add approximately 600 long-term care beds in Regina, first announced in 2021.
The building will span 21,979 square metres and include individual resident rooms, therapy spaces, and Indigenous gathering and spiritual areas. When it opens, the facility will be owned and operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
Graham Design Builders LP began construction in September 2025, and key early milestones such as foundation work and stairwell installation are now complete. A tower crane is also in place.
The 2026-27 provincial budget set aside $100 million to move the project forward, part of a $4.3-billion total capital budget, one of the largest in Saskatchewan’s history. The full project, including design and construction, is expected to last four years, with substantial completion targeted for fall 2028.
Regina-based N.I.S. Contractors Ltd. handled early site preparation work in 2024. The specialized care home is being built on government-owned land within a 158-hectare parcel and is one part of the province’s larger commitment to boost long-term care capacity in the city.
