The ArtSpring Theatre on Salt Spring Island is set to host a community showcase on April 17, 2026, featuring a diverse lineup of local performers. The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., highlights the creative talent found within the community as part of the venue’s spring programming.
The showcase is organized by the ArtSpring RoundTable, a volunteer committee created to mark the venue’s 25th anniversary. It is one of a number of community-focused events held during the 2025/26 season. The evening will feature performances from seven local acts, including fiddler Wesley Hardisty, musical storyteller Matthew McKinney, puppet artist Tangle McClaron, and a theatre scene from The Little Prince performed by GISPA. Other participants include Marilyn Walker and Edgar Hann, who will perform Newfie and Irish music, and Lisa Maxx, known as The Singing Amma. Grace Jordan will serve as the event master of ceremonies.
For performer Lisa Maxx, the showcase marks a significant return to the stage after a six-year break caused by the pandemic, a house fire, and health challenges. She describes the upcoming performance as a relaunch and a moment to rise from personal difficulties.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase at the ArtSpring box office or online at purchase.artspring.ca. Prices are set at $10 for youth and $30 for adults.
ArtSpring, which first opened in 1999, is operated by the Island Arts Centre Society. As the island’s premier centre for performing and visual arts, it features a theatre that seats up to 265 people and serves as a year-round hub for local and touring arts events.
