Registration for spring and summer recreation programs on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, officially opens on March 4, 2026. The new seasonal guide from Salt Spring Island Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture is now available online, allowing residents to review local activities and secure spots for the upcoming season.
The guide includes several popular options such as swimming lessons and the full pool schedule for the Rainbow Recreation Centre at 262 Rainbow Road. Families can also sign up for various kids’ summer camps, drop-in sports, and community programs designed for both children and adults.
Many activities will take place at the Salt Spring Island Multi-Space (SIMS) gym located at 124 Rainbow Road. To ensure the building remains safe for the community, the 2026 budget includes $496,155 to replace the asphalt roof on the facility this year.
These local recreation services are managed by the Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission (LCC), which is led by Chair Earl Rook. Dan Ovington serves as the senior manager responsible for the daily operations of the island’s parks and recreation department.
