A 28-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash on Guthrie Drive in Sarnia, Ontario, early on the morning of May 8, 2026.
Emergency crews, including the Sarnia Police Service, Sarnia Fire Rescue, and Lambton EMS, responded to the area near Edgewood Street at approximately 12:25 a.m. Reports indicate that a white Volkswagen Tiguan struck a support pillar for the Murphy Road overpass. First responders attempted life-saving measures, including CPR and first aid, before the man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Norma Lagacy, a local resident who lives near the overpass, was among the first at the scene after hearing the collision. She reported that there was no movement inside the vehicle when she arrived to assist.
The Sarnia Police Service Traffic Services Unit is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Investigators are asking any members of the public who may have witnessed the event, or who possess relevant dashcam or residential camera footage, to reach out to Constable Mike Ross at 519-344-8861.
This incident marks the second fatal collision in the Sarnia-Lambton region within the same week, following a separate crash in Plympton-Wyoming on May 5, 2026.
