On March 4, 2026, members of Sarnia Fire Rescue visited Sarnia Christian School in Sarnia, Ontario, to teach students about fire safety. The visit was part of an ongoing effort to provide local children with the skills they need to stay safe and understand the work of emergency responders.
The session included an interactive question and answer period where students learned about fire safety equipment. Firefighters also showed the students what they look like while wearing their full protective gear and masks so the children would feel comfortable seeing them during an emergency.
As part of the visit, students spent time creating thank-you cards for the firefighters. This activity helps the fire department build strong, positive relationships with young people in the community.
The Sarnia Fire Rescue Services maintains a permanent position for a public education officer. This role is dedicated to coordinating school visits and other outreach programs to help reduce fire risks across the city.
