The Sarnia Police Service responded to a weapons call at a bar in the 900 block of Devine Street in Sarnia, Ontario, on March 21, 2026. Officers arrived at the scene around 1:59 AM after receiving reports that a man was threatening people with a knife and a baseball bat.
Investigators say 26-year-old Cody Spinks of Wellington Street confronted people at the bar and threatened to kill them. The incident allegedly started because of an earlier disagreement between a group of people at a different bar in the downtown area.
Police found a black-handled paring knife with a six-inch blade hidden behind a tree where the man had been standing, but they did not find the reported baseball bat. No injuries were reported during the confrontation, and everyone involved declined help from paramedics.
Spinks faces four charges, including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, causing a disturbance, and uttering threats. Following a court hearing, he was released on bail with specific conditions.
