The City of Sarnia is inviting residents to help spruce up the community by participating in the annual Community Parks Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Registration for the event officially opens today, March 30, at 8:30 a.m. and will remain open until 4 p.m. on April 10.
The clean-up event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to noon, encourages families, groups, and individuals to head outdoors and collect litter from local parks, trails, and green spaces. The annual event returned in 2022 following a two-year pause due to the pandemic.
Volunteers who register can pick up free clean-up kits, which include bags, gloves, and first-aid supplies. These kits are provided by NOVA Chemicals, the event’s longtime sponsor. The supplies will be available for pickup at the Strangway Centre on Friday, April 24, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., while quantities last.
Following the morning clean-up, participants are invited to a free barbecue at Germain Park. The lunch is hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours, which has supported the event for several years. The Sarnia Environmental Advisory Committee also continues to play a key role in organizing these Earth Day-aligned activities to help keep local natural areas clean and enjoyable for all residents.
