The Sarnia Police Service Drug Unit arrested a 31-year-old man from Toronto following a drug trafficking investigation on March 31, 2026.
Shortly before 5:00 PM, officers arrested Markel Ryshane Sutherland and seized 50.45 grams of crack cocaine. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $5,000.
During the arrest, police also seized $1,412 in cash, cellular phones, drug packaging materials, and a digital scale. Investigators took possession of the man’s 2012 BMW 750i, categorizing the vehicle as offence-related property.
At the time of his arrest, Sutherland was already on bail for several charges out of Toronto, including assault, assault with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of crack cocaine. He was also facing two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Sutherland was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. He now faces new charges of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
