Teens in Spruce Grove will have exclusive access to the pool and gymnasium at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre during the upcoming Teen Takeover event on May 23, 2026. The free program runs from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and offers local youth aged 13 to 18 a chance to enjoy swimming, gym activities, and provided food.
To participate, a legal caregiver must register the teen and sign a program waiver by noon on May 22, 2026. Registration is required in advance, as walk-in attendance is not permitted. Families can register through the City of Spruce Grove online via the ActiveNet portal, by calling 780-962-7632, or by visiting the Border Paving Athletic Centre or Heavy Metal Place in person.
Participants are expected to bring clean indoor shoes, a bathing suit, a towel, and a lock or change to secure their belongings in lockers. Staff will conduct bag checks upon arrival, and participants should note that re-entry is not permitted if they leave the facility during the event. Liquids are not allowed inside, though empty water bottles may be brought to use at the site’s water fountains.
Supervision will be provided by both City of Spruce Grove program staff and TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre staff. The program staff are trained in Intermediate First Aid and CPR, as well as High Five principles of healthy child development. For residents with accessibility questions or those requiring additional support, inquiries can be sent to [email protected].
