The City of Spruce Grove is looking to hire a new Community Peace Officer, with applications open now until July 22, 2026. The full-time temporary position, lasting up to 18 months, is part of an enforcement expansion backed by the recently approved city budget.
The job, posted July 8, comes with a salary range of $85,883.20 to $102,086.40. It sits within the Protective Services division and will involve enforcing municipal bylaws and provincial laws, running patrols, and helping the RCMP during emergencies. Peace officers in Spruce Grove also teach community safety programs.
City council gave the green light to hire more peace officers when it adopted the 2026-2028 Budget and Fiscal Plan last December. The plan includes new RCMP members, peace officers and a fire prevention officer. Of this year’s 4.68 per cent tax increase, 0.67 per cent is directly dedicated to hiring additional RCMP officers, with the budget also funding the peace officer and fire prevention positions.
To qualify, a person needs a high school diploma and a law enforcement diploma or accredited police training. They also need at least two years of work in enforcement, security or the military. The successful candidate must earn Community Peace Officer Level 1 status after hiring, which involves finishing the Community Peace Officer Induction Program and passing a physical test such as PARE, COPAT or POPAT.
