The St. Thomas–Elgin Public Art Centre is opening its annual juried exhibition, “In View of the Artist,” with a free reception on Saturday, August 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 301 Talbot Street. The show runs through October 3, 2026 in Galleries One and Two.
The exhibition features two-dimensional works by artists from St. Thomas, Elgin County, and the surrounding region. It celebrates the unique perspectives, ideas, and creative voices of local artists through original paintings, drawings, prints, and other two-dimensional media.
“In View of the Artist” is the flagship annual juried show for the St. Thomas–Elgin Public Art Centre. The gallery has operated since 1969 as the only public art centre in St. Thomas and Elgin County, and hosts 16 exhibitions each year. Admission is free for all visitors.
The art centre is located at 301 Talbot Street in downtown St. Thomas. The opening reception on August 29 offers free admission and a chance to meet the artists whose work is on display. The exhibition continues through the first week of October.
