Temporary weight restrictions for trucks on roads in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne will remain in effect until May 29, 2026. These annual rules, which began on March 20, are in place to prevent damage to municipal roads during the spring thaw when road surfaces are at their weakest.
The restrictions apply to any vehicle or combination of vehicles weighing more than 5,500 kg. According to the No Truck Route By-Law 2026-04, which replaced previous rules earlier this year, trucks are prohibited from using specific routes unless they have a permit or meet specific exemptions. Essential goods, such as milk, feed, livestock, fuel, groceries, and medical supplies, are permitted to travel at normal loading weights during this period.
The Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne aligns its seasonal rules with the Province of Manitoba’s Spring Road Restrictions program to protect local infrastructure. While the current end date is May 29, 2026, the municipality notes that dates may change depending on environmental conditions.
Drivers should be aware that enforcement is active under the new by-law. Fines for violating truck routes are a minimum of $500 for a first offence, $750 for a second, and $1,000 for a third, plus the cost of any necessary road repairs. Commercial operators and farmers are encouraged to review the current No Truck Route By-Law 2026-04 to ensure they are following the correct route requirements.
