The Town of Ste. Anne Fire Department is urging drivers to use extra caution when travelling through the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 210, citing a history of frequent and dangerous collisions. As the community waits for long-term road improvements, local firefighters are recommending that residents consider using the Highway 12 overpass as a safer alternative route whenever possible.
Fire Chief Robert Saindon says the department has responded to multiple accidents and several close calls at this specific junction over the past few months. The intersection has long been a concern for emergency responders, with records showing an average of eight to ten accidents occurring there annually. The local fire department, which consists of 24 active members, is frequently called to the site to manage everything from vehicle collisions to related emergency responses.
While provincial authorities have already installed short-term safety measures—including rumble strips, larger signage, flashing red lights on stop signs, and refreshed pavement markings—the ongoing risk has kept the intersection at the centre of local safety discussions. The province is currently working to finalize a design study for future upgrades, with construction work anticipated to begin in 2026. The Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne has formally expressed its support for a roundabout as the preferred long-term solution to improve traffic flow and safety.
Officials, including Dawson Trail MLA Bob Lagasse, have emphasized the urgent need for these upgrades to prevent further incidents at the busy crossing. Residents can find more safety information and community updates in the 2026 Spring Newsletter published by the town.
