The Town of Ste. Anne has launched a new online guide to help residents navigate their annual property tax statements. The resource, titled Understanding Your Property Tax Bill, is available at steannemb.ca/tax_bills_faq and aims to explain the various assessments, taxes, and line items that appear on municipal notices.
Tax statements in the community are typically mailed in June and are due on or before the last business day of July. After August 1, a 1.25% monthly penalty is applied to any unpaid balances. Because tax bills can be complex, the town developed this guide to help residents identify the two main components of their statement: municipal taxes set by the town council and education taxes set by the Seine River School Division. The town noted that it has no control over the portion of the bill determined by the school division.
This guide is part of a larger suite of resources on the town website, which also includes information on payment options, supplemental taxes, and the new 2026 Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit. This credit replaces the previous school tax rebate and offers up to $1,600 on principal residences. Residents must apply directly to the town to receive this benefit.
The town council, currently led by Mayor Yvan St. Vincent and councillors Lyle Davis, Jason Einarson, Jeremy Wiens, and Cornie Klassen, provides these resources to assist with transparency regarding municipal expenses. Further information on property assessments and tax details can be found at steannemb.ca/property-taxes.
