Stettler youth looking for a summer gig can scoop ice cream and support their community at the Ice Cream Shack in West Stettler Park. Stettler Connects is sharing a call from BGC Stettler – Heartland Youth Center for volunteers aged 12 to 18 to help run the snack shack this summer.
The shack is part of the SOARING project, a youth-led mental health effort backed by Alberta Health Services. The project also involves the Stettler Public Library and Clearview’s Caring and Resilient Students program. It gives teens a chance to build work experience, contribute to the community, and keep the popular park treat spot open for everyone.
The Ice Cream Shack runs seven days a week from 1 to 4 p.m., weather permitting, with an extra Wednesday evening shift from 5 to 8 p.m. The setup lets youth volunteers handle everything from scooping to customer service, learning skills that can help with future jobs.
West Stettler Park is a hub for families, with walking trails, a playground, a gazebo, a stocked fishing pond, and the Rotary Armstrong Spray Park. Having the shack run by local teens adds to the community feel, giving families a reason to linger during visits.
Anyone interested can find details through Stettler Connects by calling 403-742-1155 or visiting their Facebook page. The volunteer posting went up on May 26, 2026, and recruitment continues through the summer season.
