Stettler is tuning up for a new summer event as young local bands get ready to compete in a Battle of the Bands at West Stettler Park in Alberta. Hosted by the Town of Stettler and the Stettler Public Library, with the Heartland Youth Centre as a partner, the competition offers a fresh stage for musicians aged 12 to 25. Only six bands will secure a spot, and registration is open now through the library’s website.
The free outdoor concert is set for August 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the park’s gazebo, a familiar venue for the town’s long-running Music in the Park summer series. Organizers are calling it an unforgettable showcase of local talent, and prizes await the winners. But to claim a slot, bands need to sign up fast. “Be one of six bands to compete,” the library says on its event page. “Only six bands can compete, so sign up NOW!”
To make the afternoon run smoothly, the library is looking for volunteers 15 and older to help behind the scenes. Anyone interested should call the Stettler Public Library at 403-742-2292 and ask for Jasmine or August, the summer program coordinators who are handling the event.
The Battle of the Bands fits into a busy summer calendar in Stettler, nestled between the Stettler County Fair and Rodeo in late July and StettlerFest on August 15. It also comes as the weekly Music in the Park series continues every Wednesday evening, giving residents yet another reason to enjoy the green space with its pond, trails and gathering areas.
