Conditions are expected to shift on Sunday, April 12, as rain moves into the region. Residents should prepare for periods of rain starting in the early morning, with temperatures climbing to a high of 15°C and southeast winds gusting up to 50 km/h. This rainy trend is expected to continue through the middle of the week, with daily highs ranging between 18°C and 22°C.
While the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority reports that the current watershed flood status is normal with no active flood bulletins, water levels remain elevated following 20 to 50 mm of rain recorded between late March and early April. To manage these levels and reduce the risk of downstream flooding, the conservation authority continues to operate flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock conservation areas.
Although major flooding is not expected, the conservation authority advises the public to exercise caution near local waterways. Officials note that stream banks can be slippery and unstable, and water remains cold and fast-moving. Residents are encouraged to avoid any flooded areas and should not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
