The Stratford Farmers’ Market is set to open its 2026 season on Saturday, April 4, 2026, offering residents a chance to gather local goods just in time for Easter Sunday.
Located at the Burnside Agriplex at 357 McCarthy Road, the market operates every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. While the market runs year-round, it hosts indoor operations from November through April and expands to an outdoor space between May and October. The only time the market closes is on the Saturday that falls between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Established in 1855, the market is one of the oldest year-round farmers’ markets in Ontario. It is managed by the Stratford and District Agricultural Society, a non-profit organization that has been in operation since 1841. The market features approximately 40 full-time and part-time vendors selling items such as fresh produce, meats, cheese, eggs, baked goods, flowers, and artisan crafts.
The site has moved several times over its long history, originating at the current city hall location before moving to the fairgrounds and finally settling at the Agriplex. In recognition of its role in the region, the market received a 2023-2024 award from the National Farmers Union of Ontario Local 341, which represents farmers in Perth and Oxford counties.
Residents can learn more about the vendors and upcoming events through Farmers’ Markets Ontario.
