The City of Stratford is looking to hire a new firefighter and a by-law compliance supervisor, with both permanent full-time roles now open to applicants through the city’s online hiring portal.
The firefighter posting was added on Tuesday, and those interested have until June 12, 2026, to apply. It is a unionized job with the Stratford Professional Firefighters’ Association, paying between $71,988.89 and $77,987.97 per year. To be considered, applicants must already hold valid Ontario Fire Administration Inc. stage one and two certificates, and be able to complete stage three, including a swim test, within four months of being hired. The city’s fire department currently has 50 personnel serving the community.
The supervisor of by-law compliance is a management-level, non-union position inside the Building and Planning Services Department. It comes with a salary range of $88,937 to $103,412, based on 2025 rates, and the deadline to apply is today, May 27, 2026. The successful candidate will report to the chief building official and lead the by-law division, overseeing enforcement officers and programs that handle short-term rental rules and the Administrative Monetary Penalty System, often used for by-law fines.
A third opening, a teaching assistant supply staff role, is also posted on the city’s job board. All three positions are being filled without using artificial intelligence at any point in the hiring process, according to the city.
