Stratford is celebrating Asian Heritage Month this year with its first-ever organized, month-long series of events dedicated to showcasing the contributions and culture of local Asian communities. The initiative, led by Destination Stratford in partnership with the City of Stratford Community Services, begins this weekend and runs throughout May 2026.
The celebrations kick off with an art exhibit opening at the Stratford Public Library on April 27, 2026, which will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Following the launch, a major opening event will take place on May 1, 2026, at the Stratford Agriplex, located at 353 McCarthy Road. Running from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, this gathering is free to attend and will feature cultural performances, including musical presentations and traditional dances, along with remarks from local community leaders.
Additional programming includes a mini-exhibit at the Stratford Perth Museum on May 1, 2026. Located at 4275 Huron Road, this exhibit is free to view and will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
These events are organized by local representatives from the Indian, Chinese, and Filipino-Canadian Community in Perth-Huron. The celebration aligns with the national recognition of Asian Heritage Month, which has been observed in Canada since 2002 to honour the history and achievements of Asian Canadians.
