The federal government is investing more than $1.6 million into two automotive companies in Southwestern Ontario to help them update their equipment and stay competitive. The funding is intended to help local businesses modernize their production lines and manage changes in international trade rules.
According to an announcement on March 19, 2026, MVA Stratford will receive over $886,000 to buy specialized machinery for its factory. This funding will help the company, which makes plastic parts, grow its business and look for new customers outside of the United States.
Another $750,000 is going to London-based Armo-Tool Limited to improve its ability to make specialized tools and automate its work. This manufacturer plans to use the money to reach new markets and diversify its business.
The money is being provided through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). It is part of a larger auto strategy launched by Prime Minister Carney in February 2026 to support the industry during times of global market uncertainty.
Parliamentary Secretary Peter Fragiskatos announced the funding on behalf of the government. He noted that the investment is designed to protect local jobs and help these businesses handle the impact of international taxes and trade pressures.
