Pickleball players from across the region are invited to sign up for the Three Rivers Open tournament, running August 15 to 16 in the Cardigan and Georgetown area of Prince Edward Island. The Three Rivers Pickleball Club is organizing the event, with registration details available online through the club’s Facebook group.
The tournament showcases the growing popularity of pickleball in the area. The local club has access to courts in both communities, with the Three Rivers Sportsplex at 85 Glenelg Street in Georgetown serving as a key hub for the sport.
The event comes just days after National Pickleball Day on August 8, which is being marked by a separate tournament in Miltonvale. PEI Pickleball ÎPÉ is the provincial governing body for the sport, affiliated with Pickleball Canada, and oversees a busy calendar of events across the Island.
Residents of Three Rivers, a town formed in 2018 through the merger of several smaller eastern PEI communities, have embraced the sport as a way to stay active and connected. The tournament offers a chance for players of all levels to compete close to home.
