The Waterloo Regional Police Service has increased its presence in the Village On The Green and Marshall Street neighbourhood in Waterloo as officers continue to investigate multiple recent incidents. Residents are advised to avoid the area while police carry out their work.
This heightened presence follows a stabbing that took place on March 27, 2026. At approximately 7:10 p.m., police responded to an area near Phillip Street and University Avenue West, where they found a 25-year-old man with stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
Police are currently looking for two 16-year-old male suspects in connection with the stabbing. One is described as weighing approximately 130 pounds and was last seen wearing ripped jeans, a black jacket, and a white sweater with the words “Just Love” on it. The second suspect is described as approximately 100 pounds with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black coat, black pants with a pink logo, and black shoes, and was riding a black scooter.
Separately, on March 29, 2026, officers arrested a 30-year-old Waterloo man following a knife-related dispute at a home near University Avenue East and Marshall Street. The man faces charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Police were called to the home at approximately 2:50 p.m. after reports that a man was threatening others and officers with a knife.
The Village On The Green is a residential complex located at 121 University Avenue East, situated in a high-density area of the city near the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. This part of the university district has been a focal point for police activity throughout March.
