Waterloo, Ontario is in for a stretch of clear, sunny weather this week, with Environment Canada forecasting dry conditions and steadily rising temperatures from Monday through Thursday.
According to Environment Canada, Monday will see a high of 22°C under sunny skies. Tuesday brings more sun and a high of 21°C, while Wednesday warms up to 27°C. Thursday is expected to be the warmest day, reaching 29°C before showers return later that evening.
No weather alerts or watches are in effect for the region. As of Monday afternoon, the Grand River Conservation Authority also reported no active flood messages, a relief after a cool and wet spring that brought several flood watches in May.
Residents should take care during outdoor activities, especially on Tuesday when the UV index is forecast to hit 8, which is rated as very high. Region of Waterloo sun safety guidance notes that at this level, unprotected skin can start to burn in about 15 minutes.
Current conditions at the Region of Waterloo International Airport as of 2 p.m. Monday showed mainly sunny skies and a temperature of 21.7°C, with a northeast wind of 15 km/h gusting to 28 km/h and visibility at 16 kilometres.
The dry spell gives residents a window to enjoy outdoor plans before a shift in the pattern. Environment Canada says showers are expected to return Thursday evening, with a 30 to 40 percent chance of rain Friday through Sunday.
