Waterloo Regional Police arrested six people across three separate incidents in Kitchener and Waterloo this month, including an attempted motel break-in, a rideshare driver robbery, and a stolen vehicle that backed into a police cruiser.
Early on July 14, 2026, three men tried to break into a motel unit on Victoria Street North in Kitchener around 12:30 a.m., but fled in a rideshare vehicle after failing to get inside, according to the Waterloo Regional Police. Officers stopped the vehicle nearby and arrested a 22-year-old from Toronto, a 31-year-old from Kitchener, and a 40-year-old from Kitchener. Police seized three imitation firearms during the arrests.
All three face charges including attempted break and enter, disguise with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The Toronto man is also charged with obstructing police and breaching release orders. Each was held for a bail hearing.
In a separate incident on July 11, a 19-year-old Mississauga man was arrested after police say he assaulted a rideshare driver and stole personal belongings in the Sportsworld Crossing Road area of Kitchener. He faces robbery and mischief charges and was also held for a bail hearing.
Also on July 11, police found a stolen vehicle on Albert Street in Waterloo around 11 a.m. When officers approached, a 16-year-old girl from Brantford reversed into a police cruiser while trying to escape. Both she and her passenger, a 17-year-old from Kitchener, were arrested. No one was hurt. Both face charges including motor vehicle theft, and the driver is also charged with obstructing police.
