Westlock can expect a stretch of pleasant summer weather over the coming days, according to the latest forecast from Environment Canada.
The federal weather agency issued its July 13 forecast Monday morning, showing daytime highs climbing from 23°C into the high 20s by late week. No weather alerts are currently in effect for the area.
Tuesday, July 14, will bring a high of 26°C, though the afternoon carries a 30 percent chance of showers along with a risk of a thunderstorm late in the day. The humidex could make it feel closer to 30°C, and the UV index is forecast at 7, which is considered high. Residents spending time outdoors should take precautions against the sun.
Wednesday will see cloudy skies and a high of 24°C, with clearing expected overnight. Thursday and Friday will then see the peak of the warm spell with highs of 29°C under sunny skies. Overnight lows will range from 9°C to 15°C throughout the week, providing cooler relief in the evenings.
These temperatures sit a few degrees above Westlock’s July normals of a 23°C daytime high and 9°C overnight low, making it feel more like a midsummer pattern for the community of about 4,900 people located 85 kilometres north of Edmonton.
