The Whitby Historical Society is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Party and Workshop in Whitby, Ontario, on May 10, 2026. The event invites residents to the Lynde House Museum from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a blend of creative activity and traditional refreshments.
Participants will begin the afternoon at the Warren General Store, where instructor Lisa Johnson will lead a session on creating a floating floral teacup. Following the workshop, guests will move to the museum for a tea service that includes sandwiches, scones, and sweets. The museum, which is the oldest home in the Durham Region, was originally built around 1812 for pioneer Jabez Lynde.
Tickets are $50 per person and cover all crafting supplies. The activity is open to anyone 13 years of age or older, and organizers recommend that attendees have some experience using a glue gun for the craft portion of the day.
The gathering takes place just over a week before the Victoria Day long weekend, which marks the unofficial start of summer in the community. During this time, the Town of Whitby sees increased activity along the waterfront, including at the Port Whitby Marina, where operations transition to extended summer hours.
