The Durham Regional Police Service arrested two 14-year-old boys following an armed robbery on February 19, 2026, in Whitby, Ontario. The incident happened near Taunton Road East and Garden Street where two youths used a weapon to threaten another teenager.
Investigators determined the weapon used was a conducted energy weapon, which is often called a taser. The suspects used the device to steal a jacket and a satchel from the victim. The victim was not physically injured during the robbery.
Both suspects are 14-year-old males from Whitby. One youth is charged with robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, using a disguise to hide his identity, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a prohibited device. The second youth faces a charge of robbery.
D/Cst. Farrow is handling the investigation for the police service. Both teenagers were released on an undertaking, which is a formal promise to follow specific rules while they wait for their case to go to court.
