Two teenage boys are recovering after their car left Duffs Road and burst into flames on June 11, 2026. The collision marks another serious crash involving young drivers in the area.
At about 8:30 p.m., an Audi sedan was heading north on Duffs Road south of Townline Road West when it lost control, went off the road, and caught fire, according to the Durham Regional Police Service.
A 16-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed by Ornge air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre. Police say his condition has since improved to stable. A 17-year-old boy in the car was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Collision Investigation Unit closed the roads for several hours while gathering evidence. Investigators are now asking anyone with dash cam, cell phone, or surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
The crash comes just two weeks after four teenagers were hurt in a rollover on Myrtle Road West in Whitby. Anyone with information is asked to contact D/Cst. Lan at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5216.
