A 60-year-old man riding a bicycle was seriously hurt after a crash with a vehicle in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario, on Monday afternoon. York Regional Police say the collision happened near York-Durham Line and Hoover Park Drive around 4:15 p.m. on May 25, 2026.
Emergency crews rushed the cyclist to a Toronto hospital by air ambulance. Police first described his injuries as life-threatening but later updated his condition to serious and non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.
The crash site was shut down while officers investigated. Roads in the area reopened just after 8 p.m. the same night. Police have not said what caused the collision or if any charges are pending.
The collision spot sits in Stouffville’s east end, a busy area near routes that link to Durham Region. York Region has been upgrading roads along the York-Durham Line corridor, with other work wrapping up in late spring 2026. A new $14.8-million roundabout is also planned for the nearby intersection at Bloomington Road, with construction starting later this year and set to finish in 2028.
York Regional Police run a One Metre Cycling Safety Campaign to remind drivers to give cyclists at least one metre of space. The force also asks people to report dangerous driving or close calls through its Road Watch program, aimed at making streets safer for everyone.
