The York Regional Police have laid charges against 34-year-old Pirasanna Balasubramaniyam of Pickering following a shooting at a home in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Harold Avenue, near Ninth Line, on February 12, 2026, just after 9 p.m.
The shooting caused damage to the house, but police confirmed that no one was injured during the incident. Investigators with the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team believe the home was specifically targeted.
The suspect was arrested on March 4 following a focused investigation into the February event. He is now facing several charges, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help maintain public safety. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
