The Independent Production Fund (IPF) will host a funding workshop in Gimli, Manitoba, on July 24, 2026, to teach local creators how to secure financing for digital shows. This session is part of the Gimli International Film Festival and will guide filmmakers on creating financial plans and meeting the requirements of national funders.
Catherine Moreau, Deputy Director of the fund’s Montreal office, will lead the bilingual presentation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in Banquet Room C at the Lakeview Gimli Resort. This event is part of the festival’s 26th anniversary, which runs from July 22 to July 26, 2026, and focuses on helping local producers grow their careers.
The workshop, titled Séries Courtes: Opportunités et stratégies de financement, helps filmmakers utilize programs like the joint initiative between the IPF and the Canada Media Fund. These programs offer up to $30,000 for development and recently provided nearly $3 million in total production support to various shows across the country.
Manitoba creators have already seen success with these national funds, including the horror-mystery project Anatomy of a Séance, which received development support in 2024. By attending, local filmmakers can get the direct advice needed to prepare stronger applications for their own digital drama series.
