The Town of Amherstburg, Ontario, began a search for bids to develop the first phase of the Howard Industrial Park on March 2, 2026. The project focuses on a 330-hectare area located along the east side of Howard Avenue and south of County Road 8.
This latest step follows a long planning process that included a formal plan for the area approved by the Ontario Land Tribunal on February 12, 2025. The town is now looking for experts to handle the strategic planning and development required to get the land ready for construction.
Community members have been involved in the project through several public meetings held in 2023, including open houses on March 8 and July 25. According to the Howard Industrial Park District project details, the new park aims to bring more industrial businesses and jobs to the local area.
By moving forward with this first phase, the town is working to increase its tax base and prepare the necessary roads and services for the site. This development will help transition the largely undeveloped land into a hub for future investment and industrial growth.
