The Town of Amherstburg, Ontario, is moving forward with plans to grow the Howard Industrial Park to bring more businesses and jobs to the local community. On March 2, 2026, the town started looking for professional experts to help create a strategy for the first stage of development at the site.
The Howard Industrial Park covers about 330 hectares of land on the east side of Howard Avenue and south of County Road 8. While the land has been set aside for industrial use for a long time, much of it is currently empty and needs specific infrastructure before companies can move in.
This latest step follows a decision from the Ontario Land Tribunal, which approved a long-term plan for the district on February 12, 2025. According to information from Talk Amherstburg, that approval cleared the way for the town to start the actual work of turning the land into a hub for new investment.
The town has issued a formal request for proposals to find the right team for this work. This process will help officials like Melissa Osborne and Chris Aspila decide the best way to support future industrial and commercial growth in the coming years.
