Residents in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne, Manitoba, will receive a larger property tax credit this year as the provincial maximum increases to $1,600 for 2026. This credit is designed to lower the school tax burden for people living in their own homes.
People who received the credit in 2025 and have not changed properties do not need to take any action because their eligibility will renew automatically. However, the RM of Ste. Anne notes that new property owners must declare their home as a principal residence before April 15, 2026, to have the savings applied directly to their tax statement.
This program from the Province of Manitoba does not include homeowners living in Paradise Village. For those who are eligible but do not see the credit on their municipal statement, the money can still be claimed through personal income tax filings.
The increase was originally announced in the 2025 provincial budget as part of a plan to help with the cost of living. The credit acts as an advance, reducing the total amount homeowners owe when their property tax bills arrive.
