Residents in Chestermere, Alberta, will see a sharp drop in temperatures this weekend as a brief warm spell ends and more typical spring weather returns. The shift follows a day of high winds and significant temperature swings for the community.
According to Environment Canada, the day began on Friday, March 20, 2026, with a fog advisory that caused near-zero visibility for morning drivers. While the afternoon reached a high of 18°C, the agency warned of strong winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour in wind-prone areas.
The warm conditions will be replaced by a high of only 4°C on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Along with the temperature drop, there is a 60 per cent chance of flurries expected throughout the day.
This cooling trend brings temperatures back toward the seasonal average of 6°C for late March. Local residents are encouraged to adjust any outdoor weekend plans to account for the cooler air and potential for snow.
