The Mount Pearl Blades U13 A girls hockey team won the provincial championship title on March 22, 2026, after a weekend tournament in Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Blades secured their victory with a 3-0 shutout against U13F GP A in the final game at the Unity PARC Arena. This win was the highlight of the Steele Hotels Provincial Championships, an event that brought together 41 teams and roughly 700 young athletes from across the province.
During the earlier rounds of the tournament, the team recorded one win and two losses in their preliminary games. Official results from HockeyNL show the Blades earned a 2-0 victory over the Eagles before moving on to the playoff round and the final match.
This championship is a significant achievement for the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association, which has provided programs for local youth since 1975. The team is led by Head Coach Andrew Sinnott along with a staff of coaches and managers who support the players at the Mount Pearl Glacier facility.
