The Town of Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, is asking residents to share their personal housing stories through a survey that closes on March 29, 2026. This community feedback is being collected to help the town understand local housing needs and plan for future construction.
Whether residents currently rent, own a home, or are looking for a place to live, their input will be used for a province-wide study. This project is led by Turner Drake & Partners Ltd. and ASBB Economics and Research, and is majority funded by the Government of Canada to help local leaders make better decisions about where and how to build.
The town is growing much faster than the rest of the province, with the population increasing by nearly 14 per cent between 2016 and 2021. In 2025 alone, the town approved 220 building projects worth over $60.4 million, with 78 per cent of those being for residential developments.
Local data shows that many residents face high costs, with about 14 per cent of households spending more than 30 per cent of their income on housing. To keep up with the growing population, the Three Rivers Housing Needs Assessment predicts the town will need 1,445 additional homes by 2041.
Residents can participate by filling out an online survey or using an interactive map tool. Local business owners also have a separate survey to share how housing challenges affect their operations and the local community.
