Hummingbird Chocolate Maker in Almonte, Ontario, is inviting residents to a hands-on workshop to decorate their own large chocolate treats this spring. The Paint Your Own Chocolate Giant Egg event will take place on March 29, 2026, at the company factory located at 476 Ottawa Street.
During the four-hour session, people can use colourful organic cacao butter to paint a large egg made of 70 percent dark chocolate and filled with handmade vanilla marshmallow. The workshop is open to all ages, with doors opening at 12:55 PM for a 1:00 PM start.
Hummingbird Chocolate Maker was started in 2012 by Erica and Drew Gilmour, who are former international aid workers. The business has since earned more than 125 awards, including a top international prize for the best chocolate in the world in 2016.
Tickets for the activity cost $25 per person and can be found through Eventbrite. The shop, which employs over 17 people, sources its cacao directly from small farms to ensure farmers are paid fairly for their work.
This event is held about a week before Easter Sunday, which falls on April 5, 2026. Organizers mention that anyone who buys a ticket can get a refund if they cancel at least three days before the workshop begins.
