The Kensington Vipers (Team Mann) Under-11 recreational hockey team won the provincial championship this past weekend in Kensington, Prince Edward Island.
The victory took place during the Hockey PEI championship weekend, which ran from March 20 to March 22, 2026. This title win in the recreational division marks a major achievement for the young players and the local community.
Earlier this month, the same Kensington Vipers squad earned first place at the Shane Cormier Memorial Meltdown tournament on March 1, 2026. In the final game of that event, the team defeated the Rustico North Stars with a score of 8-1.
Head coach Jason Mann led the team throughout the season along with assistant coaches Ricky McNeill, Tyler Howard, and John Gamble. The group was supported by manager Amanda Gallant and assistant manager Corie Good.
While the local junior B hockey team did not hit the ice this season due to a lack of players, the success of the youth program shows that hockey remains popular in town. The community has a deep history with the sport, including 13 provincial junior titles won over the last two decades.
