The Rotary Club of Sidney by the Sea is hosting a drive-thru paper shredding fundraiser on April 18, 2026, in North Saanich, British Columbia. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the parking lot of the Highway Christian Fellowship church at 10364 McDonald Park Road. Residents are invited to bring sensitive documents for secure disposal while supporting local community programs.
Organizers are calling the event Rotary Shredfest and have timed it to coincide with Earth Day weekend. A minimum donation of $15 per bankers box is recommended to participate. The club has hired Best Shredding, a carbon-neutral company, to ensure all materials are properly recycled rather than sent to a landfill.
The fundraiser will run until the shredding truck reaches its full capacity. Proceeds from the day will be used to help various local organizations, such as the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank and the Shoreline Medical Youth Clinic. The club asks that participants ensure there is no plastic mixed in with their paper items.
This event marks a return to the church location for the club, which has been active in the region since 1995. This spring initiative is supported by local businesses and residents of the Saanich Peninsula. In addition to shredding events, the club raises money throughout the year for student scholarships and holiday hampers for families in the community.
