The Kensington Granites have captured the 2025-2026 PEI Senior Hockey League Senior C Provincial Championship. The team secured the title on March 30, 2026, by defeating the Rustico Mustangs in a four-game sweep of their final series.
The championship-clinching victory took place at the Eliyahu Wellness Centre Canada Games Place in North Rustico. During the final game, Brett Ballum scored his second goal of the night with only 27 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, ending the match with a 4-3 score. Other goals for Kensington were provided by Dillon Wall and Kayden Peck, while goaltender Tyler Caseley turned away 28 of 31 shots to preserve the win.
This provincial title caps off an undefeated postseason for the Granites, who also swept the Tignish Aces in the semifinals. Following their strong playoff run, Granites defenceman Clark Webster was recognized as the most valuable player of the playoffs. This achievement concludes a successful season for the Kensington club, which finished the regular schedule tied for first place in the league standings with a 7-4-1 record.
The league, which was rebranded as the PEI Senior Hockey League for the 2025-26 season, features four teams including the Granites, the Mustangs, the Aces, and the Montague Stallions. For the community of Kensington, a town of approximately 1,500 residents, the championship represents a significant athletic milestone for the local hockey program.
