The Town of Milton is preparing for spring road maintenance operations, starting April 15, 2026. This annual program by the Operations Department marks the transition from winter services to essential cleanup and infrastructure work across the community.
As part of this seasonal change, crews will focus on several key activities to prepare local roads and sidewalks for the warmer months. These efforts include widespread street sweeping to remove winter sand and debris, beginning with main streets and cycling lanes before moving into residential areas. Staff will also prioritize catch basin cleaning to help prevent potential flooding, as these storm sewers are vital for managing water runoff.
The maintenance program also involves important repairs and safety upgrades, including the town-wide repainting of pedestrian crosswalks, bike lanes, and road lines once sweeping is complete. On roads without curbs and gutters, crews will perform annual shouldering and ditching work to ensure proper drainage and protect the road surface from damage. This work supports the maintenance of more than 2,400 kilometres of roads and 250 kilometres of sidewalks throughout the town.
These maintenance services are funded through the town’s 2026 operating budget, which was approved by the Town of Milton Council to support daily services for the growing community.
