Residents in Milton are preparing for the upcoming Good Neighbours Day, a town-wide cleanup event scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026. This year, the event aims to build on the momentum of previous years, with roughly 400 volunteers already signed up to help refresh local green spaces.
Volunteers will meet at Town Hall at 150 Mary St. at 8 a.m. to begin the day. The Rotary Club of Milton will provide breakfast for participants at the starting point, and the Town of Milton will supply essential tools, including garbage bags, gloves, and trash pickers.
Beyond the single-day event, the town maintains ongoing efforts to keep community areas clean through its Adopt-a-Park program. This initiative features various locations across the community, including parks in the Harrison, Dempsey, and Scott neighbourhoods, where volunteer groups commit to regular spring and fall cleanups.
For those interested in general spring cleanup activities, the town lists 10 specific park sites for maintenance, including Bronte Meadows Park, Brookville Park, Bussel Park and Trail, Kinsman Park, Sherwood Park, David Thompson Park, Speyer Park and Pathway Berm, Winn Trail Park, Coates Neighbourhood Park (South), and Luxton Park and Wood Lot. These sites are supported by partners such as Sustainable Milton.
Registration for Good Neighbours Day is currently open at miltongoodneighboursday.ca. The event is led by long-time organizer Alex Wellstead, who expects the 2026 turnout to be comparable to the 700 to 800 volunteers who participated in 2025.
