The City of Brockville is preparing for its annual spring cleanup, with two upcoming events designed to freshen up the community. Businesses are invited to participate in the Mayor’s Corporate Clean Up Challenge on Friday, April 24, 2026, followed by the Community Wide Clean Up on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The Mayor’s Corporate Clean Up Challenge asks local businesses to spend 20 minutes cleaning up their own properties to demonstrate civic pride. The following day, the Community Wide Clean Up will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, targeting parks and green spaces across the city. The event is organized by local volunteers and students, with support from partners including the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau, the City of Brockville, Brockville Public Library, The Home Depot, CN, and L.A. Knapp.
Residents and business owners can pick up cleaning supplies at the Brockville Public Library, located at 23 Buell Street. Distribution times are set for Tuesday, April 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, April 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to share photos of their efforts on social media using the hashtag #brockvillecommunitycleanup.
This initiative continues a tradition of strong local engagement, with over 1,000 residents volunteering their time during the 2025 event. These cleanups mark some of the final major civic engagement efforts led by Mayor Matt Wren, who announced on March 17, 2026, that he will not seek re-election this October after eight years of service to the city.
More information about volunteering and registering for the events can be found at brockvillecleanup.ca. The events are also being promoted by the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce, which represents over 300 member businesses in the region.
