Brockville’s annual road resurfacing program began on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will bring temporary lane restrictions and delays to streets across the city until about September 18, 2026. The City of Brockville is asking drivers and residents to plan for construction noise, equipment, and slower commutes in active work zones.
Crews from G. Tackaberry & Sons Construction Co. Ltd. are doing the work under the City’s Engineering Division. The project involves cold milling, which removes the top 40 millimetres, or about 1.5 inches, of existing asphalt, then replacing it with new hot mix asphalt. This routine maintenance helps extend the life of local roads before larger repairs are needed.
Residents can expect lane restrictions and delays on various streets while the work takes place. The city says crews will make every effort to minimize disruptions and maintain access where possible, but drivers should watch for equipment and allow extra travel time through construction areas.
The road work is part of Brockville’s 2026 capital budget of $10.36 million, which includes $1.36 million from the tax levy. The city manages roughly $109 million in municipal assets such as roads, bridges, and facilities, but replacing them would cost more than $800 million, making regular upkeep like this resurfacing important.
